Senior Process Engineer (Metal Powders)
6K Additive, a division of 6K Inc., is a fast-growing innovator in high-performance metal powder production for Additive Manufacturing (AM). Located in Burgettstown, PA, we leverage our proprietary UniMelt™ plasma technology—the world’s only production-scale microwave plasma system—to enable customers to tailor powder characteristics for advanced applications across demanding industries.
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, this role is critical in driving innovation, improving manufacturing processes, and supporting both internal operations and customer needs. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in industrial process engineering, with a strong preference for experience in metals or metal powder manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead process development initiatives from concept through implementation.
• Design and execute testing protocols for new and existing processes.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations and Commercial teams to optimize performance and address daily production challenges.
• Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on process efficiency, consistency, and quality.
• Provide expert input during technical reviews, including product specification development and customer acceptance criteria.
• Serve as a technical lead on customer-facing projects and ensure alignment with client requirements and company objectives.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; strong preference for experience in metal powder production or advanced materials processing.
• Proven hands-on experience with industrial process engineering and manufacturing scale-up.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
