Dr. Garcia-Santamaria is a materials scientist with a proven record in creating revenue-generating IP and developing custom-tailored characterization techniques to understand the properties of materials. Throughout his career, he has worked on optical materials such as quantum dots, LED phosphors, and photonic crystals.

Before joining 6K Dr. Garcia-Santamaria worked at GE’s Global Research Center where he helped develop a red-emitting phosphor that is now part of millions of commercial displays (TVs, cell-phones, tablets) and LED lighting products. Previously he was a Director’s Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory and a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his PhD in the physics department of Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Spain.
